Trick or Trot 5k Run/Walk - Oct 22nd

The Trick or Trot race will be held on October 22nd at 8 am. It begins and ends in downtown Hopkinsville, via a route that includes a large section of the community’s popular Greenway Rail Trail. Join us for the race and costume contest. Proceeds will go to benefit KECC!
  • $20/person (Sept 15 to Oct 8)
  • $30/person (Oct 9 to 22) 
Packets will be available for pick up Friday, October 21st from 8AM to 4:30PM @ The Probation & Parole Office. They will also be available from 6:30AM to 8:30AM the day of race.

The Office of the Secretary of State is having a KECC fundraising event EVERY Tuesday and Thursday in September at the Chili's located at 345 Leonardwood Drive in Frankfort.

Customers must bring in the above information (print or mobile) when they visit for lunch or dinner (Dine In or To Go) to the Frankfort Chili’s location and 15% of the purchase (excluding taxes) will benefit KECC.

 There is a minimum donation of $6.50 per plate. All proceeds benefit the 2016 KECC campaign.

2016 KECC Spring Weight Loss Challenge!

2016 KECC Spring Weight Loss Challenge
Lose 9% of your body weight in 12 weeks and split the pot
When:  NOW – May 24, 2016
Who: All State Employees

Rules: 

  • $20 to play (20% will go to KECC) – Payment due at the first weigh-in. No late payments will be accepted.
  • Register with Laura Negron (laurar.negron@ky.gov).*  Late registrations will be accepted. However, no additional time will be allowed (For example – if someone wants to join AFTER March 1, they can, but they will still only have until May 24 to meet their goal). 
  • Each participant must submit an initial weight.  Weigh-ins must be at an approved site.  Please contact Laura Negron (laurar.negron@ky.gov) for weigh station options.
  • Verified off-site field staff weigh-ins are accepted.  Pre-approval required.
  • Participants must weigh in weekly (up to 2 missed weeks will be allowed).  If you miss more than 2 weeks, you will not be eligible to win.  If you will be out of the office, I can arrange for you to weigh in at home or off-site during those weeks, as long as they are not the first or last week. 
  • Participants who have lost at least 9% of their initial body weight on May 24, 2016 will split the pot. (for example – 40 people pay $20 and submit their weights -- $800 in the pot.  At the end of the 12 weeks, 10 have lost 9% of their weight.  $160 would go to KECC and $640 is distributed evenly among the 10 winners with each earning $64)
  • Please note – participants will be given their goal weight at the initial weigh in.  Participants must be at or below their goal weight at the final weigh in.  Goal weight is based on the participant’s weight at the initial weigh-in.
  • Participants who meet their goal prior to May 24 must maintain the goal weight until the end of the challenge.
  • Everyone who loses 9% or more is guaranteed at least their money back.

State Employees Recognized for Rallying to Help Kentuckians in Need

Kentucky Employees Charitable Campaign (KECC) leadership hosted the annual finale ceremony to recognize campaign coordinators and volunteers supporting this year’s statewide charity effort.

The 2015 KECC Chair and Secretary of the Public Protection Cabinet Ambrose Wilson IV praised Kentucky employees for raising over $1.1 million in donations for programs and services that will aid Kentuckians in need of assistance.

Several awards were presented by Secretary Wilson during the event including Leadership Awards to the following KECC coordinators:

Recipient of this year’s KECC Determination Award was Carla West, Cabinet for Health and Family Services and the KECC Energizer Award went to Marlane Robinson of Kentucky Retirement Systems. Special awards were also presented to Dana Harvey and Nila Meeks of the Personnel Cabinet—and to the Public Protection’s Cabinet Vicki Craycraft and Stephanie Ledford—for their exceptional support of the campaign.

In addition to individual awards, Kentucky cabinets reaching their KECC goals were recognized for Outstanding Performance in the 2015 campaign. Cabinets earning this distinction included:

• Office of the Attorney General
• Cabinet for Economic Development
• Dept. of Military Affairs
• Kentucky Retirement Systems
• Kentucky Commission on Human Rights
• Kentucky Personnel Cabinet
• Public Protection Cabinet
• Kentucky State Treasury

Kentucky cabinets were also recognized individually for achieving excellence for significant participant increases, overall giving, and more.

The Kentucky State Treasury was recognized for achieving the highest increase of any top-level cabinet or office over their prior campaign year with a 164 percent increase.

The Best Overall Award in Per Capita Giving for all of state government went to the Cabinet for Economic Development that raised nearly $190 per employee.

The Best Overall Award in Total Giving went to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet that raised over $185,000—nearly 17 percent of the statewide campaign this year.

The annual campaign represents over 1,000 charitable programs through seven state-approved federated organizations: Christian Appalachian Project; Community Health Charities; Kosair Charities; March of Dimes; Prevent Child Abuse Kentucky; United Way of Kentucky; and WHAS Crusade for Children.

Zombie Apocalypse 5K - Saturday, Nov. 14 - Prestonsburg

On November 14, a contagion will emerge in a 5K area of downtown Prestonsburg, in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains. The fearless will meet infected 'zombies' as they make their way through this apocalyptic scene.

We need fast runners and walkers to scout the area, but beware, the infection spreads and no one is safe!

5k run or walk course. Run from zombies trying to steal your flags as you complete the course. If you finish the race with at least 1 flag left, you will be a “Survivor”. If the zombies steal all 3 of your flags, you are “Infected”.

Golf Scramble - Friday, Sept 18 - Jenkins (Near Pikeville)

KYTC D12 KECC Golf Scramble- 4 Man Scramble
To benefit the Kentucky Employee Charitable Campaign

This year’s event will be held Friday, September 18th at the challenging Raven Rock Golf Course located at 586 Golf Course Lane, Jenkins, Kentucky. 

Registration begins at 8:00 a.m., with shotgun start at 9:00 a.m.

The cost for this event is only $250 per team or $65 per player. This price includes 18 holes of golf, cart, lunch, various awards. There will be an awards presentation and lunch directly after the scramble at the clubhouse.

Team prizes are as follows: First Place - $400, Second Place - $200, and Third Place - $100

This will be a four person team scramble format. Best ball – Captain’s choice.

To help us properly plan for this event, please register before September 11, 2015

USGA rules will govern play. Golf attire is required. Soft spikes only.
